94 Seadoo GTX Not Turning over

Hi there. First time post, long time lurker. In short I've got a problem with my Sea-Doo last summer I had the wear ring/ housing all replaced. After paying my mechanic to winterize I put it straight away until now. When taking it out of storage, it won't turn over. Even with a boost - batter aside, which is brand new and getting 12.4 strong volts. I've attached a video of what happens when trying to start it.

Also. I can turn the shaft smooth if I put a pipe wrench on it, but not if I use hand strength only. Engine was running great heading into storage and had good compression on both cylinders.
 
Take the plugs out and see if you can turn the pto shaft by hand easily. If not I'd start by greasing the carrier bearing. You can also loosen the hose clamps and see if the bearing rotates by hand. When the seals start to go out on those bearings they let water in and it rusts the needle bearings.

PTO is just the shaft under the fly-wheel, correct? I tried that and it doesn't spin easily. It will with a pipe wrench though.
 
Yes the driveshaft, but you won't be able to spin it a full turn by hand with the plugs in, you need to take the spark plugs out then see how it rotates. Lawn mower battery might not take the abuse of bouncing off waves, and it's going to leak acid. I put AGM powersport battery in mine, you can get the Neptune brand on ebay for $50

Yeah i did that last weekend. It rotates but only with the assistance of a pipe wrench. Is that indicative of anything?
 
Check that carrier bearing like I said above that would probably be the best case scenario. If it's not that then pull the jet pump, to check that spins freely. If it does then it could be your starter binding.

God I can't imagine it would be the engine. Had 155 on both cylinders last summer. We shall see I guess. Thanks again!
 
I just did get it roll over. It was looking like it might go so I put the plugs back in. Now she's dead again. I took the plugs out and she just clunks. Could this be the relay?

Okay...pull the pump and drive shaft and seal carrier,,,with plugs out,,,does the motor spin freely,,,now you can rule out a seized pump bearing,,,a seized carrier bearing,,,or a stuck crank/piston.

Here's the update. With the jet pump removed, the engine spins freely. Got 150PSI on both Cylinders. But she won't fire still even with a fresh battery.

Wont roll over completely with the plugs in but with them out, rolls over beautifully
 
I'll give you all an update just in case there's people that are following this but aren't really commenting or anything. I hit the starter with a hammer and she fired right up. I can't believe I never thought to do that before.

Probably a bad spot on the starter. Rebuild OEM starter with a rebuild kit, don't buy aftermarket starters.
 
I think your right. I put it all back together and I'm right where I started. Wont roll over with the plugs in. Hitting the starter isn't working.
 
Could also be an intermittent solenoid or loose electrical connection, but yeah, I'd have to guess a failing starter.

Again, rebuild, don't buy new.
 
Correct. They're built to hit a price point and made from inferior materials. You're lucky to get a year out of them, the Bendix gear breaks or the thing rusts out.
 
Yup,,,just get an OEM brush kit,,,they are relatively cheap for an OEM and easy to install...
