93 SPi Fuel fill Problem

Curious if anyone else has trouble filling the fuel tank on thier ski? I have a 93 SPi and it literally takes 20 minutes to pump the fuel tank full. no matter where I place the nozzle in the fill tube, gas just won't enter the tank at more than a trickle. I took the fuel hose off the filler neck, and there is a tube in the hose. I am assuming this is the venting system for the tank??

I don't have this problem with my 94 GTX. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks!!

It's a problem with the old skis. The hose goes straight down about an inch, and then is level with the fuel tank. So... you get a splash back, and the pump shuts off.

Hold the pump nozzle out of the neck a little... it should flow in at about half speed, and get you topped off in a couple minutes.

Tony,
Thanks for the response. Believe me, I tried that as well, but it still a slow process. I understand what you're saying, that the fill hose is darn near horizontal to the tank... (cool design). I guess I'll just live with it. Now, besides the price of gas, I have another reason to hate the gas station, lol. Thanks again.
