93 GTS Bogging down

Hi everyone. Any advice would be appreciated.

My ski (93 white engine GTS) turns over and starts fine. A bit of a rough idle. Once I give it throttle it boggs down and stops running completely. This happens in the water and out of the water.

I have replaced all the fuel lines. New fuel selector valve. New Battery. New MPEM. Pulled the carb (Mukini 38 mm) rebuilt it. Reinstalled and same problem. Compression in both cylinders is a little low but within a percent or two of each other . I checked for air leaks at the gaskets. I did notice the butterflies don't seat to a perfect seal inside the carb. Does anyone know if they are to seal completely against the inside wall of the carb ? I replaced the o rings in all of the jets. I think it is being fuel starved. How do I reset the main jet ? I have read the posts and understand the main jet to be set to "0" . How do I know where "0" is ? I can't see any markings on the outside of the carb. . The low speed is "low=1.25, high=0 " I understand the 1 1/4 turn for the low but the high at "0" is what I don't know how to do. I don't have a pop off tester . Will the pressure be set if I adjust the main jet properly ? Or is this another setting ? Any suggestions would be a big help ....... thank you

Hi Jeff,

I'm a newbie myself but just recently went through a similar ordeal with my 00 GTI. If you pull the choke while the ski is running what happens? If it dies quickly then actually you are running to rich but if it starts running better then you are to lean. On my GTI it would only bog down in the water and at higher throttle inputs. I ended up fixing it with the high speed screw, but it sounds like you have something different. But the High speed screw on mine is at the top of the carb and has a black plastic cap with a little arm on it. Mine was gummed up so I had to move it back and forth in order to get it loosened up and bottomed out and go to 0. Also one other thing I did find is that the lever that is attached to the needle in the carb needs to be level with the floor of the carb. Both the Mukini and the Seadoo manual have a good description of it. Good luck with getting it going.
