Hey gang..I'll try this again, last time I post I got 0 hits. I own 2 92 matching Seadoos. I will say that I have not done much maitenance on these since I've bought them 2 summers ago (this is my 3rd summer) the first 2 summers were great, other than a battery issue, which I've heard is common. This summer (after sitting all fall/winter/spring) they did fire right up after putting new batteries in them and one is running fine/great, the other is "choking" A LOT. I've added Seafoam to them both, but the 2nd ski is still hesitating/choking. They will both start up great when cold and warm, but the choking is pretty bad. It'll start up and go, but at times I need to full throttle it and it'll still run slow, then all of a sudden take off, then choke again....sometimes die out..but will fire right back up instantly.
I'm not a mechanic, but I do work on my own 59 Impala (tune ups, oil, gaskets, etc) I was going to try and change the plugs and the seadoo, but wanted to get this forum's opinions first. Also, my batteries have gone dead on me..do I need to charge my skies after each use....what can be done to really increase performance....tips/help....THANK YOU.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Choking". Please explain more about how its acting when its running. Batteries need to be charged all winter with a trickle charger or checked and charged every couple of weeks or they will not last long. Does your ski still have the grey fuel lines? If so change them and clean the carbs.

Hey Chucky!

thanks for responding..I've been searching and reading online....I have to check the fuel lines as I have no clue what the color is. I do see that people are saying to replace the fuel lines..what is the deal with the grey lines vs the black? Where do I get the blk ones? Autozone? I installed the new batteries about a month ago..we've ran the skies for quite some time since install without recharging them, yesterday on the lake both skies quit...it thought that the skies kept the batteries charged? I do recall that I had to charge the other batteries (last 2 years) but I thought that was due to them being old. As far as the choking...it's hard to explain. Once she fires up, if I give her just a tiny bit of gas she'll cruise, if I want to accelerate, she'll hesitate (maybe that's a better term)...if I give her full throttle she'll speed up a bit but no where near where she "should" be....then while going she'll start hesitating as if she's not getting gas...I can full throttle it and she still won't go..if I release the gas and give very little, she'll re-catch and cruise at low speeds. Sometimes she'll also catch while cruising slow...literally feels like she then gets the amount of gas needed..almost threw me off the ski...because I was giving her 3/4 throttle to get her to speed up slowly when all of a sudden she took off on me (thus why I think it may be a gas issue)...I hope this helps?

Sounds like a fuel issue. The grey lines are bad because over time the inside material breaks downs and finds its way into the carbs, fuel selector switch, and fuel filter. It can cause the exact thing that you describe. I replaced mine on both ski's with 1/4" automotive fuel line. Do not use the the fuel injection line they also sell. Get it at any auto parts store. You will need about 22'. I do not replace the two vent lines because it should not effect them. Just make sure you replace each one one at a time so you don't mix them up. Getting the old clamps off is a bitch, dont forget to buy at least a dozen clamps. Good Luck. If you continue to ride it the way it is you will do damage from running lean. My one ski had a flake of paint in the little filter inside the carb and blew a cylinder. Not pretty.

Man you need remove the carbs and go through them. Make sure you clean them really good with carb cleaner after disassembly. Also clean that fuel selector valve along with the in line filter.

..okay...so I do have black fuel lines....put new plugs..sprayed/cleaned carb and lines......then I was told (at the lake) that I should try starting it with the fuel selector on reserve...I did...and WOW :hurray: she fired up and ran faster than I can remember...literally flying on the lake.......

You need to remove fuel selector valve and either replace or clean. Those things over time get worn and frayed inside. (took one of my old ones apart) You could also bypass the selector valve, but then you wouldn't have the opportunity to spend 30 bucks.

I read that I need to disconnect the battery when charging overnight? I've never disconnected the batteries..is this bad? I use the smaller 6amp chargers..sometimes I slow charge at 4 amps
