Hello, I have just registered with Seadoo forum looks like a informitive site.
I purchased a decent looking 91 Gt last week in as in condition, after doing the usual looking things over and trying to make discoveries the first thing noticed was the starter was not workingat all just a click at the relay. I have removed the started did a bench test and it is shot.. No big deal a new one is being shipped. Now I have a tech question this model has reverse and the selector appears to be stuck in neutral I cannot get to move in any direction at all, the cable appears to have been replaced at sometime I'm not sure yet if it is only stuck from sitting or maybe another issue. This ski HAS NOT been run since 06 so I'm in for a few suprises i'm sure but it was a 300.00 ski with nice galvanized trailer so maybe with a bit of luck I won't have a small fortune invested before it gets to the ramp....

Many Thanks .......

I just saw your post. Welcome to the seadoo forum. I use PB Blaster on things that are frozen and have had good luck with the product. It is available at like Walmarts or Auto Zone.

Karl thanks for the advice, I have some P-V Blaster and the shift cable is working fine now... New starter should be here in a couple days, took the old one apart today it shows rust and need a rebuild kit. I will keep it for a spare after doing the rebuild...

Great, Let us know if you need any further information. We do have parts available at out "parts" link too. If you think you might need a manual to help out, we also have manuals in the seadoo forum library to help you out also, as part of the premium members section.

You mentioned a bad starter. I've had to replace 4 starters on my 91GT. Some burned out (grandchildren used starter to get to shore after running out of gas), some rusted out, starter bendix spun but didn't engage flywheel, etc. Decided to try to change starter myself and discovered the problem: The gasket between the ignition cover and ignition housing was broken allowing water to enter the chamber housing the starting gear and ignition coil. Rust caused the starter bendix to freeze. When you remove the starter motor, check the bendix for rust. There should be none. If there is, remove the ignition cover (12 screws) and check the gasket for leaks. Ted
