787 Starter Bendix ?

I did a lot of searching on this and it sounds like you can use a 9 tooth bendix as a replacement for an 8 tooth. Can someone please verify this is correct
 
You can but it is not recommended. The 9 tooth was on the first 95 XP 800 and 96' XP's. Seadoo and many owners realized they need more torque to spin the 787 so Seadoo switched to the better 8 tooth one in 1997.

The 8 tooth is the one to use for easier starting of a 787.
