Anyone know if this is normal? Lol!
Anyone have any idea of the typical reason for failure of the rod bearing? This motor was freshly rebuilt from the person who I bought it from and apparently had it completely disassembled. I bought the motor for a spare and ended up needing it pretty soon after I got it. Noticed right away that the bottom end was pretty noisy so I figured it would eventually have failure but didn’t expect the rod to be the cause of failure. Basically all the bearings on the crank are pretty noisy as I spin them. My guess is that water must have sat in the motor at one point in time. The only bearing that isn’t noisy is the sealed one on the CB shaft.
Admittedly, we were laughing pretty hard as we made jokes about listing it on eBay with below picture with description of “removed from running engine” haha.
