720 XP - Metal bing in turbine

Is it normal to hear a metal vibration in turbine area when I start me ski out of the water? Is this a sign something needs greasing?

Turbine??? Do you mean the jet pump? If you are talking about the pump, then yes there is about 1/8" of play, you will have a slight rattle when there is no load on the pump, once you get above idle speed it should go away. I see you have been a member for a year, is this noise new?

Hi Lou,
The sound is new to me because I've been working on rebuilding the ski for the past year and just got it going this week. The ringing at idle you mention sounds like my case. In the next few days I'll be trying it in the water. Can't wait. It's been stopped for a few years now, do you think I should grease the jet pump? Thanks for the info. Matt

If by greasing the jet pump you mean changing the gear oil in it, by all means do it.

Yeah. I'll have to look for a video on how to change the gear oil. Do I need to change a gasket or o-ring in the process?

You don't always need to replace the o-ring, but do inspect it. It does not hurt to replace it.
