1995 GTX has 657X motor locked. Have a 720 motor with a single carb
setup. Just noticed today the carb is a mag carb off an 96 XP. Is there any interchangeability to use either or all of the 657X RV cover, manifold, dual
carbs currently on the X motor, as the XP carb wont work? I don't know
who or when put that carb on there.

well 96XP had 2 40mm carbs

and a 97GTS had 1 40mm carb?

you aren't gaining much with the dual carbs

if your cables reach run the single carb.

'95 GTX . A 96 XP mag has NO restrictor, a pulse, & three nipples.
I could put a fishing bullet weight in the return line, but don't want too.
Does anyone see a problem as to putting the 657X RV & carbs on as far as "will
it fit"? single don't sit right.

You can use the twin carbs from the 657 if you re-jet to 720 specs. Actually, the 96 XP carbs (MAG & PTO) each have a restrictor in the return circuit. You can see it when you remove the fuel pump. However, the MAG carb on the 657X engine does not have a restrictor. It uses the PTO one.
