I got some great help here with my questions about replacing a 657x with a 720...got the 720 in place and realized the water hose connections are not the same. The 657x has two connections on the PTO side of the head cover. The 717 also has 2 connections on the PTO side and one on the Mag side. The lower exhaust pipe connections are a little different also...i guess the water circuit is not the same on the 2 engines..I was about to swap the head covers but it looks like I might need an impact wrench for some of the frozen bolts on the blown 657.Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

They are not the same or compatable, different bolt pattern. Water route:
717 water hose from pump goes to left head rear, straight tru and out lrft front,
a short hose with Tee, 1/3 water goes to pipe nipple and cools out going gases so
pipe to muffer connection and then exhaust hose to hull outlet don't melt. Other 2/3
water goes to tuned pipe curl nipple and helps cool outgoing gases but routes tru manifold, engine cylinders, up from them to head and out the head rear to hull outlet
nipple by jetpump. Partway there is an inline flush connector with oneway (incoming from home garden hose) water valve. The tuned pipe has a top nipple with small line down to cone nipple for equalizing steam. The exhaust manifold has a drain nippel under it and small hose from there goes to hull outlet. Some have a T installled and
goes to a show/tell pisser/restrictor on ski rear.
