650 / 657 cylinder

I'm buying a new jug and piston for my 94 spx and the ads are confusing me because they keyword spam the listings with 650 657 657x etc..... Never really saying exactly what the specific part is. The ones below are listed as 650/657. Is there a difference in them that would make it not work for my 94 spx with the 657? I know i can't run the x, I've seen the difference in the jugs, i just didn't know if the 650 was the same as the 657 and would bolt up correctly.

These are only examples. One is a 78.5 bore and I'm looking for the stock 78mm. Just showing the ads saying 650/657

Someone correct me if I’m wrong here but I believe the 657 is called a 650. I don’t believe Seadoo made a 650. Correspondingly the 717 is called a 720 and the 787 is called an 800. I’m not 100 percent sure on the 650 though.

I have 2 95 gtx and one has a 2 carb engine and one has a 1 carb engine out of a older ski but I think the engines are the same

I believe the 95 Gtx had the 657x and the 94 had the 657

I ordered a new piston, jug, wrist pin, and needle bearing. This will only be 1 side. The other one has good compression. Any advice for break in of the new piston? (considering it's just 1 side)

Seadoo did not make a 650, it is either a 657 or a 657X.
You need to verify what you have because you can't interchange the cylinders or heads because of deck height.

You have to use either both 657 cylinders and a 657 head or both 657X cylinders and a 657X head, you can mix and match them.

Yes I'm aware, thank you. That was the question "what's a 650" because i wasn't aware of one. I do see that a lot though. I'm not sure why people use 650 in listings and sometimes in forums

The other issue is most people selling stuff have no clue.
Next time you need used parts contact Nick and Jess at Westside Powersports and all they do is used seadoo and are experts.

Always good to have a contact. I matched jugs so I'm in the clear and it's all brand new. I finally found a listing that showed the jug number. Until then i was left guessing.

Hooked the exhaust and chipped the top ring off. Still haven't found the ring. I was hoping it would be in the expansion chamber, but I'm thinking it'll be found under the crank if i dont find it soon. I'm putting new rings in the other jug so I'll have it opened up enough to go fishing and find the pieces.

The only good thing thats gone right yet, i opened the electrical box expecting the worst and....... bam! Color me happy.
