580 yellow / white engine questions.

So I'm looking into a potential project and couldent find any answers on the old yellow engine. I'm mostly wondering if the piston jugs are interchangeable? From pictures they look close but I know it takes only a slight variance for problems.

They do not interchange... The yellow have no coolant passages leading into to the exhaust manifold, coolant flows into and exits out of the crankcase. The white motors have cooling passages that go into the exhaust manifold and no coolant flowing through the crankcase. The cylinder liners and pistons are the same however the jugs will not interchange... Hope this helps...
