OK , hellow all I am new here, I have a 1989 SP and I put a basket case together. OK I blocked off all three oil injection lines to the motor, I ran across this site and noticed a thread that says you HAVE TO KEEP THE OIL LINES HOOKED UP except to the oil pump itself. Now I did not take it apart and pull any gear out, and luckely I have only started it for a couple of minutes. So what is the scoop, Do I have to hook the two lines back up, or take something out of the pump or both. Please be a little detailed on what needs to be done. I have no problem with pre mix. Thanks for the info.

Well I was hoping someone would help with this a little. I am more familiar with a motorcycle engine than with this engine.

Yes, you need to keep the lines hooked up to the engine case. The center of the case has the gears for the rotory valve, and they need oil. You don't have to use the injection pump, but you got to keep the gears lubed.

Thanks Dr Honda, one last question about that. . . do I need to pull the oil pump gear out, I think it is a plastic one or just leave it alone?
