I recently traded in my 2009 GTI SE 130 to a 2010 GTX 155. The manual of my GTX stated that if the recommended XPS engine oil is not available, "use 5W-40 or 10W-40 engine oil meeting the requirements for API service classification SM, SL or SJ. Always check the API service label certification on the oil container, it must contain at least one of the above standards".....does this means that I can use any oil like 5W-40/10W-40 Castrol Syntec or Shell Nautilus Synthetic 4 stroke outboard motor oil or any car oils that meet the 2010 GTX 155 manuals spec?

I wouldn't use any other oil. XPS is recomended for the ski and fully synthetic. And the correct weight for going through the injection system.
I tried other oils in mine. Part synthetics suck. And the warranty for your ski says use recomended oils. Maybe Seadoo is feeling a little bit guilty at the cost of there XPS. Or been battered with Lawsuits. That they have to say other oils are acceptable.
