I don't know much about my 2005 Sea-Doo 3-D, so I hope someone can give me some insight on my problem.

When the start button is pressed, the engine will not turn over. There seems to be plenty of battery power, and the entire ski shakes when start is pressed. There is a loud clicking noise up near the fuse box, and I've made sure the terminals are clean. Any ideas?? thanks

Check the battery. Run a voltage test. Sounds like a dead battery. Are you getting beeps when you put the key on the post? Are the dash lights turning on?

I don't have a volt meter, but I did hook a charger up to it to try and start it, same result basically. I did get it to start once, but when I shut it off, all I could get was more clicks. I seems like there is plenty of fire power, as the starter trying to turn the engine shakes the entire ski, just no turning of the engine. Does this make any sense? I talked to another guy that thought of water in the cylinders, that was a no. Now he's leaning toward solenoid or relay switch???? Hoping it's not the starter. I am thinking the beeping series is correct, so I'm praying its not the expensive stuff...........I really don't know anything about these machines. First time trouble. I just know it'll be a month before I get it back from a shop at this point, so any suggestions I'm willing to try. thanks

Poor battery cable connections. Clean battery cable connections.
Poor contact of brush. Straighten commutator and brush.
Burnt commutator. Turn commutator on a lathe.
Worn commutator segments. Undercut mica.
Shorted armature. Repair or replace armature.
Weak brush spring tension. Replace brush holder or spring.
Weak magnet. Replace yoke assembly.
Worn bushings. Replace clutch.
STARTER ENGAGES; BUT
DOES NOT CRANK THE
ENGINE.

Go COUGS! Also, if it does end up being the starter, I believe you can get a repair kit for way less than a whole new unit. Lemme know how it goes!

new battery

You learn something new everyday. I figured if you had your battery charged and the charger set to start mode that there should be plenty of power to turn the engine..........apparently not. New battery and it started right up.

you should never use a a charger or booster pack or a running car to try and jump start a ski as you can fry the mpem then you will be paying big bucks
