Boat seems to start and run fine then it draws back power and I get all the beeps you hear in the video. There is to many so I can’t make heads or tails of the sequence

Found the problem. Oil light is coming on. For some reason my gauge idiot lights were loose and after I got all the bulbs working it stays lit. Only comes on when i put the boat up in the higher RpMs. Seems that maybe the ECU for 2008 only monitors oil pressure higher in the RPMs and not at idle. Can anyone confirm? I figure if the engine isn’t getting oil it would be toast in 30secs. Seems to run fine.

So this is the problem. Question is why did it happen

My only guess,,having done many,,,is the filter was not seated properly,,,then tightened down,,,and compressing/squishing it.

I had the same symptoms as yours and hand the compressed oil filter as well. changed out and fixed problem. Not sure why it occurred as I purchased the bought and had to chase this problem. Ended up changing the oil pressure switch as well, as oil was seeping into the electrical connector.

Thanks guys. I don’t see any shavings or any smoking gun. This happened when I sucked up weeds in the impeller amd the boat cavitated and was vibrating and cavitating for a while while I headed for the dock. Next thing I know I pull the boat, clear the intakes and the next ride out oil alarm. I first thought it was the sensor because the boat ran fine but everytime I jumped it on plane the oil alarm would come on. Then I pull the filter thinking man maybe my oil pump is worn and let me look for shavings.

2nd that it looks like the filter was not seated and when it was tightened down it deformed. Think of how it works, oil arrives on the outside of the filter and passes through to the inside. The inside cyl has a seal. If that seal does not seat, the flow of oil can be disrupted and can cause flow problems. This would be exasperated as flow is increases. (RPM)

I would inspect the return port (center) for debris or obstruction. Then replace and carefully place the filter.

Hey I will take that! lol. I just dissected the filter and no metal shavings so I am going with the assessments above! Hope for the best!! I will replace on Friday and see how she does
