2021 SeaDoo GTI SE 170 – Cranking But No Start (P0335, P1615, P0523)

I wanted to reach out for some advice on a 2021 SeaDoo GTI SE 170 I picked up from a dealership. It was a rental trade-in they gave up on—“no spark,” taking up space—so I got it cheap and brought it home. The RO (repair order) confirmed the no-spark issue, stating that they couldn't get spark, but they could get spark manually using BUDS. So the first thing I did was clean up the coil pack ground, and sure enough, it fired right up. It still had the P0335 CPS code, but it was running. This made me initially think it was just a simple ground issue.

Over the next month, I would start it every few days just to keep things fresh. Eventually, I did a full oil change using the Liqui-Moly kit from ReliableTuning and followed standard procedure with drown mode. Took out the same amount I put in. It started briefly after the change, idled for a second, then bogged and died. Since then, it turns over but won’t run.

Current codes:

  • P0335 – Crankshaft Position Sensor (replaced with new OEM Bosch CPS)
  • P1615 – Throttle Actuator (I took the intake manifold off, throttle body looks clean and moves freely)
  • P0523 – Oil Pressure Sensor (swapped with another known good one, no change)
What’s been done:

  • New engine wiring harness (old one was oddly cut open)
  • New WSM starter
  • New NGK DCPR8E plugs (x3)
  • Fresh gas
  • New battery
  • All fuses checked and tested good
  • Compression is solid at 180-180-180
  • 3 new coil packs
  • Swapped starter relay for known good one, no change.
  • Tested all fuses for continuity. All fuses are good.
  • Fuel pump is good. All 3 injectors are delivering gas.
At this point, I’m running out of ideas. I even considered a bad ECU, but the RO says the dealer already tried swapping it with no change. The frustrating part is that it was running great just days before! Does anyone have any ideas? I am leaning towards an ECU. I was thinking of taking it to a shop, but I feel that I am very close to the problem.

Any tips, suggestions, advice, is very much appreciated! And if you need any extra advice, I am happy to provide that to diagnose this no-start issue! Thank you all very much.

Drown mode circuit not opening when throttle released? Probably not but it ran before you changed oil. So TPS or ECU is not automatically resetting.
