The other day, I had an error pop up, IBR Module Error, and I could not put the ski in N or R. When I turned it off and back on, the check engine light stayed on, but it would then go in N and R. But after a few minutes, the error popped back up and no more N or R. I've read that it could be a low voltage issue, which would make sense because I had another error a while back which was attributed to low voltage, and the dealer charged the battery. I also read somewhere though that there was recall on that module, but I asked the dealer and they said that wasn't on the list. I figured I would just try replacing the battery, but I didn't realize they were $200. I dont want to replace the battery if that's not the issue. Anyone experience this before? And as far as the battery goes, it seems as thought it needs to be a BTX20HL-BS?

Thanks!

You can take your battery to a auto parts store or battery store and have it bench tested. They can also supply you with a new AGM sealed battery with a higher AH rating for around $160 if it checks bad. And yes the IBR system needs 14.4 volts and 10 amps from the charging system and a good battery not to throw codes so the battery is a good place to start troubleshooting.

In google,,,type "ibr module error",,,and you will lots.
Yes, I did. No answers that I could use for a 2020. plenty for other years. If you read my original post, I asked if anyone had any experience with this. Not how do I search on Google for it. Do you have any experience with this? If so, then what was it? If not, then don't answer a question I didn't ask. If I found an answer that I could use to solve my problem, I wouldn't have posted the question in the first place. Going to someone's post and commenting " try searching online" is not a useful answer. Don't do it. Assume that the OP has done that already.

I would suspect the battery as a they can get damaged when depleted. Consider getting a Lithium LFX battery from Shorai. They can hold a charge for many months without the need for a battery tender.

I have a 2013 GTX 215 that I had this issue and had to do some troubleshooting and research on forums for advise. My year Seadoo used the IBR with the much larger servo motor. The newer ones like yours use a much smaller DC motor and from the posts I have seen, many have found a source for just the motor to avoid the costly IBR Module replacement. If you have to just replace that motor, you don't have to take it to a dealer to flash the IBR. If you change the IBR Module, you have to take it to a dealer so they can flash it using the BUDS Reader/Software. What I would do first, if you have the check engine light, go to the fault code section of the display and see what codes are posted. That will give you some indication where your problem might be. Check your battery voltage, make sure it is at least 12.6vdc, Seadoos don't like low voltage. If that is okay, go into the settings on the display and override the IBR, this will allow you to use the up/down on your handle bars to raise or lower the reverse bucket. If it doesn't move, it is most like that motor based on what I have read before. In my case, I traced the electrical from the IBR Actuator Switch to the IBR and found multiple bad (corroded) pins in the IBR circuit that I cleaned and it fixed my IBR issue. Not sure that is your problem, but areas to look for.

Thank you much! I guess I'll try replacing the battery first, since it caused a different problem recently.
