So I have a 2016 GTI 155 limited and a 2006 GTI SE. Changed the oil in both yesterday. On the 2006, there is the small red washer at the bottom of the bolt holding down the oil filter cover (the one that doesn't come in the oil change kit). No such washer on the 2016. Just the nut on the bolt. I looked around to make sure I didn't lose it. No where to be found. Is it supposed to be there? In ten years of changes on the 2006 I've never had it come off, and it appears to be the same assembly. Or did it get eliminated at some point? I changed the oil one other time on the 2016 and used it all year with no problems but don't want to assume it's ok.

p.s. the good news is before the oil changes I got to ride them around the northern Chesapeake in almost 70 degree weather!
