2013 Sea-Doo RXT 260 IBR and Check engine light when put in forward.

I have a 2013 Sea-Doo RXT 260 that is throwing a IBR Module Error light and seconds later is throwing a check engine light and going into Limp Home Mode when I put the ski into forward (5k rpm max and 32mph max). But when i turn the ski off and turn it back on, it goes back into neutral and acted like nothing happened until i put it back into forward (reverse working fine). I originally thought it was the battery so i bought a new one and it still had that issue. Rectifier is working fine (14.4v charging when running) and wear ring looks good. I did not have this issue until after riding it for a couple hours today. IBR is new and ski only has around 114 hours. otherwise it runs good, If anyone knows the issue please tell me.

Check ibr amp draw on BUDS and recalibrate. Check and clean IBR connections. Still sounds like IBR problem even though it's new. Was the IBR and the IBRMON married to the ECU when installed? Did it ever work properly when it was installed?

I have a 2012 Sea Doo GTI 130 SE with around 256 hours on it. For the most parts no issues, although, I've had a maintenance required message on the display for about 100 hours, but nobody seems to know what it means! Not even a dealer! In August 2025, the check engine light came on, pulled the seat and realized the cap wasn't on the oil filler tube (2nd time this has happened) and it seemed low on coolant. I added oil and cap and some coolant and check engine light went out. I don't believe there was any coolant in the oil either, indicating a blown head gasket. The last time I ran it, ran it for 2-3 hours and it ran fine. Just before I was done for the day the check engine light came on. Any ideas what the check engine light or the maintenance required message means. I also heard you can pull error code from the display, but haven't figured out how to do this.

When "Maitenance Required" appears, all that means is that your jetski is due for Regular service like an oil change, spark plug check, and basic service things. But from what I have heard is that some issues like the oil problem you had can cause the maitenance required to appear earlier instead of the default amount of hours to keep the ski in proper working order. Idk why the dealer wouldnt know what that means unless im not understanding something.

I would also get a BUDS system or have someone who has that use it on your ski to diagnose the check engine code!

Suggest you download a service manual on EBay for your particular ski. Your error code procedure questions (also in operators manual) will be answered. It will also include code explanations and service procedures for each code. You can then think about if you want to buy diagnostic software either Candoo or BUDS, or you can go the dealer route, who use BUDS, and then have an idea what’s wrong with your ski.

To get the codes, scroll through the menus and there will be a new "FAULT CODES" menu but you have to do this while the check engine light is on. If you shut the engine off, it will not be there unless it is still active.
