2013 GTR pump rebuild already less than 100 hours?

The service manager at the dealer called me and let me know the pump is making a crackling noise outside the water. He said the bearings in the pump are going. I also need a motor mount. I didn't notice anything the last time out as it ran as normal.

Is this something I need to fix immediately? Does that seem premature for the age of the ski? Could I do this myself? I am pretty handy.

Motor mount is potentially crucial. Can wipe out pump bearings, wear ring, and the driveshaft

Thanks, I had dealer replace the mount seeing that it was there already and I plan on riding this weekend. He said I could wait a little while to do the bearings in the pump. Is that a difficult job or is there a place I can send the pump? I will tackle it in January

This sounds like a warranty job. Neither of these problem should have crept up after only 100 hours. The problem with the bearings is that you need to take off an oil seal. When all is said and done you won't be able to have it done for less than a couple hundred bucks.

Agreed, but unfortunately it is out of warranty. The pump is louder than my gti but i thought it was normal. I will see if it makes noise in the water.
Do you think it will do any further damage if i wait a few hours to rebuild?

That's a sensitive question for me. I had a 2003 GTX 185 (330 hours on it) with a pump that was working okay, but had a slow leak. I kept putting off the repair and then one day too much water got into it, blew out the oil seal, all the bearings (and other guts) spilled into the sea, and the drive shaft slid into the engine slightly, allowing water to enter the hull and flooded the engine with sea water. It needed a complete engine rebuild. Mind you that was the oil seal and bearings are a different matter. But to me the most likely reason the bearings would be going at <100 hrs is that you have a water leak in your pump, so that needs to be determined. If so, you need to do a pump rebuild. If not and it was the drive shaft wobble that did the damage, you may be able to get more hours before dealing with the bearings, but probably not a lot. If it were me I'd deal with it now.

This is once of those issues where all is is fine,,,, until it's not... When it fails, it fails badly.

There's a guy (forum member) that lives over in Lauderdale, maybe a half hour from you ?

I'm sure he could do it, he's done maybe 8 for me :) But i'll ask him if he's interested in doing just one.

PM me when you ready and i'll pass along his info,
