I was going full throttle the other day and noticed the RPMs were maxing out around 8K. Manual states max is 7350. I assumed there would be a rev limiter or something once max RPMs were met. Do I need to hold off at 7350 manually from now on? She's got the twin 155s.

What was your speed at those RPMs? I've seen mine peg to around 8k when spinning the boat and the pumps come out of the water, and it feels like the limiter is kicking in at that rpm.

I've never been over 47mph unless there's a strong current. The manual says the max RPM for us is 7650! 8000 for the 430HP.

Are you sure you don't have superchargers?? :)

I've checked it with my GPS and she maxed out at 50 on the dot. My 2012 manual states max RPM to be 7300.

You probably already know this, but just in case: The speedometer on your boat is using GPS. Upside? Dead-on land speed values displayed. Downside? Water current isn't accounted for in the reading (like it is with a paddle wheel).

I learned two things from your last post:
1) There's a page missing from my shop manual (the first page of the 210 Challenger information)
2) There is a "max RPM" listed on the page I didn't have - 7300 +/- 50 - just like your year; and, a rev limiter setting (from the page I pasted earlier)

I'm going to check the max rpm's on the engines next time I power it up and let you know what mine say. I'd be interested to know what the max RPMs record show for your engines. It can be accessed on the display menu.

Regardless, I don't have an answer for you - just more intrigued than ever.

I'm aware of the current effects on the speed. I saw 55 on the speedo a few weeks ago when out on the coast. Chalked it up to the tide flow.

I'll check the max RPMs when I head out this weekend. I completely forgot about that. I usually only use the temps when first launching the boat and always have it set it to depth once everything is all warmed up and I'm cruising.

Actually, disregard the part about checking the max RPMs. Once you shut the engines off, the max RPMs are zeroed out. I just ran out and checked.

When measuring top speed, you should should turn around and make a second pass in the opposite direction and then average the two results.
