I am looking to buy a 2008 RXP and it has 40 hours on it and the person wants 8k for it. I have the money but looking for things I should be looking for.

Can anyone give me suggestions. I currently wrench on turbo Mitsu evos so have some engine knowledge. Just want to make sure I cover my bases before plunking down 8k in cash for this thing.

Thanks

In all honesty, I would look around a bit for that price. It's a decent price, but you have to take into account that are still quite a few leftover 08's sitting in dealer inventory than you may be able to get with 0 hours, and a warranty for close to 8k. You may have to look a but, but they are out there.

That's alot of money and a fair number of hours on a 3 year old... does it still have warranty? Do you just want a SeaDoo or does the '08 model colors/specs appeal to you specifically? Do some comparison shopping 1st!

Regards!

Michael

Thanks I went and test drove 2 for sale this past weekend. Most people want alot of money for these skis.

I passed on the original one and founbd another 08 for 8k with 24 hrs with a triton trailer. The other 2 I test drove were scratched and the sides were all dented up with paint fading and each wanted 6k cash foir them.

It is hard for me to spend 6k on an 06 with 56 hrs and fading already. Is it just me or are these 2005-08 RXP skis that high in demand.

I also went to a dealer and their prices were ludicrous. 13-16k for a new one..lmao

Well remember it's nearly Springtime (ie. Boating season!) and people are going to ask for premium prices now.... in the Fall you can get much better deals, simply because the season is pretty much over for PWC's by then (yes I know, Florida is a big exception but we don't all live in the "sunshine state"... LOL!).

Wow, if 2006's are faded then they've been left out in the weather and sunlight... ie. neglected! I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a PWC that's been mistreated like that either... for $6K a 2006 model RXP/RXT aught to be in very nice condition with NO fading no tears in seats and lake ready to go! My 2006 RXT I bought last Fall has great colors, very deep and rich, and the seats are in perfect condition it had been kept covered and garaged when not in use by the previous owner... there's only 1 chip in the hull's gelcoat that I will get fixed soon (or do it myself, not sure which yet). Of course though, I didn't pay anywhere near $6k for this one so I was willing to suffer getting a chip repaired as long as the rest of the hull was in excellant shape (which it is!).

I agree, the new ones at stealerships cost a fortune + your 1st born child! LOL!

Did you end up making a deal for the 08 with 24 hrs on it and the triton trailer? Post pics!!!!

I am awaiting to hear from the person on the 08 RXP.

I had a great price for one a couple of weeks ago from a dealer in Baie-Comeau (Quebec). 10,800 $CAD for a 2010 RXP-255. This ski was never used. It just didn't find an owner, yet. FYI, a PWC like this is normally sold 16,299$ in Canada.

I didn't bought it though. I want a ski with more techs (iBR, etc...).

Good luck with your purchase!
