Hey guys and girls,
This is my first post so be gentle.

Hit 2 medium size waves on my ski a year ago.
Everything stoped and came up wit a code but cant remember what it was.
Just decided to get it going again and have a small problem.

Put key on and starts fine, Leave key on and starts every time.
Pull key off and put it back on within 20 seconds and no problem.
Leave key off for more than 20 second and nothing at all.

Jump the negative on the relay and all good again till i take the key off for more than 20 seconds.
Seams as though it goes into sleep mode.

Thinking of wiring a button to jump the relay.

Can Anyone help at all.

So "put key on and starts fine" vs "Leave off for more than 20 seconds and nothing" contradict a bit.
1) Do you have to always jump relay first time ? Or does it start if it sits long enough ?
2) Do you always get the two beeps when install key ?

Hook battery up, jump relay and it goes. leave key on and its fine but take it off for more than 20 sec and have to jump the relay again

So something is probably not getting power the way it should, when you jump the relay you provide power, but when stopped, what ever is not powered discharges in 20 secs.
1) Check all fuses & relays & power & GROUND connections.
2) Check connectors to MPEM ECM
Since everything seems ok once it starts, I would suspect the DESS. My manual, 2005 says;
The safety lanyard cap contains a magnet and a
ROM chip. The magnet actually closes the reed
switch inside the post which is the equivalent
of a mechanical ON/OFF switch. The chip has a
unique digital code.
Schematics show 3 connections to DESS, 1 appears to be fused power, two go to ECM.
Luck
