Hi everyone

I have 2006 SeaDoo Sportster 155 boat 4-tec
In general, it runs perfectly but I started having a problem last week.
I was pulling a tub for about 1h and I shut it down. I tried to start it again but it wouldn’t start. I mean, it starts for only half a second and dies. I tried many times but it was always the same. I let it cools down for about 15-20 minutes then I tried to start it again.
It started and worked perfectly. Full blast. No problem.
Yesterday, we went to the lake again. I use it under normal pressure for about 1h with no problem. Then we hooked up the tube and started puling it hard for about 1h. The same thing happened again. I couldn’t start it. Starts only for half a second and dies. We let it cool down for a half-hour and started with no problem.
Then, in the evening when we were going back to the ramp after probably 30 min of running, it just died, while running.
Same thing. It was starting only for a half of second and dies.
I was trying to start it every couple of minutes. After about 10 minutes it started but I it was running only for another 5 minutes and died again.
Few things I noticed.
It seems that it only happens if I use it a bit harder for a longer time. It didn’t happen when I was just cruising under lower RPM. Or maybe I didn’t cruise long enough.
And when it happens, the more time I leave it off to cool down, it will run longer after that.
None of the warning lights are on.
Let me know please if any of you experienced a similar problem in the past. I’m not even sure where to start.
If I bring it to a mechanic they could start playing with it and changing the fuel pump and many other things and who knows if that will fix the problem. It’s even hard to know if the problem is fixed. I will need at least half a day on the water to find that out.

Fuel pump!!!
Today I started it on my driveway and let it run. After 5-10 min just died!
Right away I checked the gas line.
nothing was coming out.
Check the power on the pump and it was fine.
2-4s was Receiving 12.5V after that 10-11V
I remove it and hook it to the power directly on the battery. It started working. I put it back and everything started working fine but there is probably no choice then to replace it.
$1000cad (for the assembly)
I am seeing some aftermarket pumps. Only electric motor for around $200. I am not sure how good it is.
Did anyone try those?

Dang, that’s expensive for the assembly.
what about something like this:

No. They physically look different. The 342 says it’s 100% OEM and comes with more stuff. The 500 just says “Sea Doo forum approved” whatever that means. Maybe it’s just the body style of the pump and a differences in flow that denotes one model from the other? I would go with the 342 because the harness whip is already attached, come with gasket, filter (whatever that’s worth) and it claims 100% OEM. Which one looks more like your stock one? Maybe the 500 has more flow/PSI and is better for some racing application. If the 342 looks like the one in your boat, just go with that and save some dough. Worst case, it’s stock performance.
also, you can always try to call and ask or send an e-mail

Too late. I already ordered 500 and I made a mistake.
I am sending it back and I will get the other one by the end of the week (thanks to Canadian Amazon)
500 has threaded (bolted) connection on the exit side.
Unfortunately my original one has just slide on connection. That means, I cannot use it.
342 has both options. Slide on and small hose with bolted connection.
So, if you are not sure which one is yours, always go with 342. Plus, it’s half the price.

Well $h1t...live and learn. At least it’ll be a quick turnaround. I can see how the 500 is more robust with the threaded connection. but as long as the 342 is a drop in replacement you’ll be good!
