I'm going into the 2nd year with my two seadoo's ( I can't get enough of them) anyway I see that it is time for more maintence. I have roughtly 22-24 hours on each / 2nd year. I have a plan but also some questions..

I have changed the spark plugs every year and changed the oil+ filter.
This de-wintering I plan to
1) Change oil and filter (10-40) Is the brp brand the only one to use? I know it can't have addictives in this, due to super charger clutch.
2) spark plugs (.30) inch
3) Replace batteries (both were always reading low last month of use)
4) Change coolant ( A)Shop manual says I need to use cleaner to get deposits out. I do not have a tank to run these in, how else can I use cleaner and water mix? B) All I shall do is pull drain plug on back of pwc by jet pump and pick the front end up?)
5)Clean up the bodies with some good cleaner then apply wax
-ALSO-
6) check Fire extenguiser and all pfds + trailer lights and wheel pressure and grease wheel hubs.

A) The book doesn't give a general amount of hours befor a fuel filter replacement I'm sure I don't need this yet, what would you guys recommend?

B)When should I, should I ever clean pto oil strainer?
Thanks for the help.

1) The correct oil to us or Seadoo Mineral or equivalent, with a API of
SL,SJ,or SN. DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC OIL in the supercharged model.
2) Spark plugs DCPR8E Gapped to .030 in.
3) batteries replace yes.
4) Change Coolant, remove the expansion tank cap, unscrew the drain plug, Raise the front of the doo use a container to collect it. use Valvoline, Zerox Super Cleaner. Add it to the cooling expansion tank and fill the cooling system with demineralized water. Run the doo on plane for 15 minutes mostly at full throttle to let thermostat open to flow in the ride plate properly. Let the cleaner product sit for 12-16 hrs to clean properly. Than run it again to remove all the deposits. Drain, and flush the cooling system with clean fresh water. Refill the system with engine cold, seadoo level, and the drain plug removed for refilling. Place a container under the drain plug to collect anti-freeze. Have someone pour anti freeze in the expansion tank while watching anti-freeze and bubbles out the drain hole. When no air bubbles escape replace the drain plug. Torque the plug to 8.NM or (73lbf.in.) Fill the expansion tank to between the marks. Use 50%antifreeze (for aluminum engines) to 50%demineralized water
5) I recommend Teflon wax
6)maintenance is a good thing...yes.
6a) fuel filter replacement isn't necessary unless it is plugged.
6b) the PTO strainer needs to cleaned at engine tear downs or when other inspections are done...not at every oil change...I say every 2 years myself.
I hope this information helps. Let us know if you need anymore help.

Ok so for changing the coolant, I'm going to follow those steps, now when I put the cleaner in, to run it on a plane for 15 mins.. Am i going to take it out on the water to clean it up then pull it back on the trailer and let it sit for 16 hrs? I'm confused on this part, I think I have this wrong.

getting to the pto doesn't seem like its going to be easy, looks complicated.

One last thing, will ANY Mineral oil be ok to use, as long as its same weight and api rating?

For the dealer to perform these things would be pretty expensive, I would imagine I'm saving close to 800 bucks. thank you for the quick response karl

Yes, the manual suggest to run it for 15 minutes on plane... or in a tank at high rpm to open the thermostat, and circulate the cleaner, (Plane meaning don't go wave jumping). Than let it set for 12-16 hrs to clean out the deposits. The PTO strainer isn't the easiest to do, The manual suggest at the 100 hr mark, or when other inspection is done, or at tear down time. The oil should be changed at the first 10 hr inspection and at 100 hrs after that...so 25 hrs isn't much time on the oil... If it's looks clean I would wait on the PTO strainer and the oil change, too. I live in Florida, and ride year round so for me it is could be 100 hrs per year. Even the coolant will last to the 100 hr mark...but some people are fanatic's at maintenance.
The oil is rated special for Marine 4 stroke 10w40 Mineral with a API SL,SJ or SN. (The API indicates Marine use 4 stroke)

Karl,
thanks you have really been a great help for my first couple posts. I'm going to call my dealer to see what he uses to circulate and maybe i'll come up with a tank like his or something, I only have teh ocean by me and avoiding waves is kinda hard at open throttle around here. besides that its so much work to have someone help me get them in and out of the water, then to have to clean them off ehh :ack:.... So a tank it is.. I think i'll wait on pto my 3 oil changes ive done the oil is very clean :) not many hours on any of them. well once I get started on this next weekend if i run into any problems I'll be sure to ask. thanks. lol

Ok Will, we will be here for you. If you get in a jam let me know... I love these 4-tec engines...

Karl:cheers:
