I have a 2006 RTX Seadoo that starts without a key. And it just starting beeping with no key in it, as there was one in it. I had to unhook the battery to stop it. And when pushing the start button, it sometimes works and sometimes does not. Please help!!

I had a 4TEC doing the same thing about 2 months ago. It ended up being the lanyard post(seadoo calls it a "safety switch") that you plug your key onto. Can't explain what was wrong with it.....but a new one fixed it!

Mine did this also one night. It started beeping as if I had they key on.
Now this weekend I put the key on and nothing was happening. No beeps, no display on the dash at all. Took it to the dealer for maintenance and they told me the "safety switch is bad". And they are charging $275 for the repair. Is this something I can do on my own and save me about $100 or should I let the dealer do the job?
I appreciate anyeone's insight here.
