2006 GTX Limited - SENSOR and 12V Low warning upon plugging in DESS...

New to the later model Seadoo's after having been away for a while raising kiddies. Just bought a 2006 GTX Limited with 20 hours on the clock. Have not yet ridden it except for the putt putt from the owner's house to the ramp. Ran fine during that 10 minute cruise.

Just reinstalled the SC after having it rebuilt. Plug the DESS in, get two quick beeps and then SENSOR starts flashing on the display. Then, I see 12V Low appear. Voltage is 11.9-12.1 not running. I fire it up (battery has enough to start the motor) and running system voltage is at 13.5V which I suspect is normal. SENSOR stops flashing as soon as engine starts up. Do I have an issue here? Is it nothing to worry about unless it appears during operation?

I just swapped batteries with my other 2006 GTX and the same SENSOR message came on. Flashes 5 times and then goes out. Stays out when engine is started. Any tips? Am I chasing a non-issue?

bump.

Can someone with a 2006ish GTX Limited with depth finder please plug in your DESS and tell me if SENSOR flashes several times and then goes out?

If any consolation, my 96 GTX does the same thing The Low Voltage light comes on then goes off after a few seconds of running.

Yes, the SENSOR message is the depth finder not being able to read the water depth. If it is out of water, in shallow water or very deep water, or a faulty depth finder, this will also occur. Very normal and nothing to worry about as long as it reads the depth properly in water.

The 12v low is most likely battery or connection issue. Check and clean connections. In 96, seadoo set the 12V LOW threshold way too high a voltage so that the 12V LOW comes on all the time on those models like almost every time you start it. Around 98 or so they lowered the allowable voltage to be much lower so that message didn't trigger until there actually was a voltage problem.

I have an 04 with a depth finder and was having issues I thought was related to this sensor message but enough smart people here said it exactly as the post above. I deactivated it, the sensor message is gone and my other issue is fixed and Doo is running fine so I will be re activating it. It's a neat feature to have.

By the way ski-dOO, this is the first real explanation I ever heard regarding this 12v low warning. I got it all the time on my 97 GTX.
