I am getting the P0116 error , this is identified as " Engine temp sensor faulty" . The engine shuts down shortly after the alarm goes off . If I let it set for a few minutes it will start and run for a few minutes then the alarm goes off and the error P0116 displays. Does this mean the computer is shutting it down as a result of a faulty indication from the engine temperature switch or is the engine over heating? I do not see any indication of coolant in the oil. Any help for this new Jet ski guy will be appreciated.

You have to use XPS full synthetic oil with the DI motor. Since it uses less fuel, it relies heavily on the oil for cooling and lubrication. This could possibly shut it down.
The DI is a complex system, Seadoosnipe has some info in his "snipes corner".

new bee needs help

Not that good with this forum. Can you tell me how find Snipes Corner or even SeaDoosnipes. I did searches and got nothing. I spend a lot of time on PC's but this forum does not seem that intuitive.

Yea, he don't like DI's.

Just may be a broken wire harness pin on the sensors connector. The EMS may
say sensor, but only reads the wire signals. You might need to put on a computer
to trace the signal, or just get lucky. I am not too savy on the DI, But Brian here
at Leading Edge Watercraft is. Call mid day (727) 547-9300

Sensor

I'm confused. If you have a 2006 GTI se then you have a 4TEC engine not a 951 DI. I'll assume you have the 4TEC engine. Do you have coolant in the bottle? The engine temp sensor is located at the rear of the cylinder head. Is it plugged in? Connector damaged? The ohm reading of the sensor should be 2280 - 2740 ohms at 70 degrees F.

leaking coolant

I replaced the sensor and still got the error. This on my brother jet ski , I have identical one. I found out when got to have hands on time it was leaking coolant . No water in the oil. I am going set up a low preasure test. any suggestion. I will start searching the forum for help wit previous post. Thanks for the reply sorry about the bad clue .

Look for coolant leak where the hoses connect to the radiator (down low, in the rear, on rt and left side of hull). These clamps have a habit of breaking because of corrosion. Look for broken clamps on water pump/thermostat housing also (down low, just to the rt of driveshaft).
