I put an order through 4tecperformance.com, I think they ship straight from Riva. That is in fact a stainless wear ring, do people typically have issues with the steel wear rings? That was an impulse buy and I didn't put to much thought behind it!

It just costs a lot more than the Delrin wear rings, I think mostly. It doesn't improve performance over a Delrin wear ring, and if a rock or something gets sucked up into your pump the SS ring won't give any more than your SS impeller blades will so... not sure what effect that might have. :-\

Hey Doc, got a question for ya! Did you add the oil tube to both (or either) of your watercraft at the same time you put the new SC's in them? Without that oil tube to squirt oil into the end of the SC shafts, I have to wonder if 200 hrs really still applies or not... you might aught to check into that!

And what newer oil port are you referring to? If it's the one in the end of the shaft, that's useless without the oil tube inside the PTO to squirt oil into it. Right?

- Michael

The latest is heavier duty. Newer oil port, upgraded shaft and housing. I beat my local dealer down to Internet prices plus taxes. $775. Fit nice and tight. I pre oiled before installed and blue loctite a must. Hours of worry free riding, 40 hrs so far. Stay below 5,000 rpms for an hour for a little break in time.

No new tube or replumbing, but the oil port is on top. So more oil can splash or be sprayed into the SC. Had to get there for the old SC somehow, right. The port is just a little more advantage along with everything else. It still is an overall upgrade.

I don't understand... the oil port is on top? Isn't it already on top for the 2004-07 year models? Or are you referring to a change in the SC itself?

The newer one has an much larger hole on top. You need to see if a dealer will show you one, or get you a picture.

There's a hole on top of the SC? Are you maybe talking about a hole on top that lets more oil into the body of the SC, between the main bearings perhaps? Mine doesn't have a hole in the main body of the SC at all... the kit instructions made mention to be careful not to block a hole on the main body with anti-seize grease before re-installing, but mine has no hole to block.

It looks like there's a shoulder on the shaft which directs oil in towards the main bearings to lube them on mine... the other side of the shoulder is against one of the clutch washers. I can't think of any other reason for the gap between the shoulder and the main SC body where the 1st main bearing is located.

If someone can please post a picture and the diameter of the hole we could drill ours to the larger diameter next time we rebuild them.
