Rxt only overheats only when you go above like 7000 rpms. If you cruise at 45 mph or 6400 rpms (give or take) it is fine but when you lay into it and try to kick it up(higher speeds) it over heats, until you bring it back below 6800ish

I realized after you just said this that i really left it without even actually asking a question. Stupid me.
So when it over heats the dash light comes on. I would assume it's the engine but i could be wrong. I'm relaying this info for my father since i was not the one riding it this weekend when it happen. He said it would not over heat even after 30 minutes of 45 mph driving but once you start kicking the speed to anything over 7000 rpms out would turn the light on within a very short amount of time
What is overheating? The engine or the exhaust?

It should also tell you in the display what is overheating when the alarm sounds and the temp warning light comes on, we need to know which one it is before we can help you.

The impeller pumps water through the inner cooler then into the exhaust manifold. If the screen in the impeller area is clogged with debris, it will set off the overheat alarm. Back flush the impeller by removing the hose at the inner cooler in front of the engine. Remove the other hose too, and flush the inner cooler while you are at it.
