2005 RXT Gauge Cluster issues

Few questions on new to me 2005 rxt related to the gauge cluster

1) the LCD is super hard to read due to glare. Is it supposed to be backlit? Reflections on the plastic just make it super hard.
2) the mph used to be working (needle flip to 100% and then back on start) but its not anymore. If I pull the gauge, anything to look for that may be messed up?

gracias

Your lcd screen is probably sun burnt which makes them hard to read. They typically are pretty easy to read when the lcds are clear even with a glare. There is no back light for these gauges, newer ones are back lit.

If your gauge isn't sweeping upon power up, your servo motor is probably bad. There are repair services for these types of clusters or you can do a swap to the next model cluster since those can be bought for less than $100.

If a new cluster is purchased it needs to be paired with the ECU though, no?

MPH doesn't move, used to a few months ago but not anymore.
RPM sometimes sticks at 7k RPM, but usually comes back down during a ride. It does sweep to 7k when starting up.

2005 is plug and play. Newer models require flashing and marrying. Sounds like it's time for a cluster rebuild or replacement.

When you mention the next model swap, what exactly would that be? Are you speaking of a newer model that needs to be married? I've put so much in this guy, I may leave it if its not a cheap fix. Hours work and if you get the dash in the sun you can see the LCD ok. I'm just happy its finally running well :).

If its a rebuild, any recommendations?
