I have a 2005 RXT supercharged Seadoo. I posted about a starter relay issue 3 years ago, replaced and that issue mostly went away (intermittently not starting still, but eventually will if you remove key multiple times). Well now there is another electrical issue I just noticed this spring when getting seaworthy. It may have been going on last fall, as my battery would be dead periodically, but I just figured it was a three year-old battery and was at the end of his life. However, this spring when I put in a brand new battery, the first thing I noticed as I was still working on it in my garage, is I could hear the engine make the clicking and humming noise when you first hook up the battery, but happened about every minute. It was as if it was making a connection, then losing it, then reconnecting. I cleaned off all the terminals really well, made sure the cables looked good, but it is still doing it. I think the repeated activity is draining the battery because it will now be too weak to start it when I want to use it, though not completely dead. I can start it with a booster and it runs fine. But leaving the fully charged battery even just overnight runs it down to where the next day it has to be boosted again. I have been half-assing it by just unhooking the battery terminal when not using, and that works. However, I have now dropped more than one terminal screw and screwdriver into the netherworld of under the engine never to be seen again, and the hassle factor, etc. So in my mind, something is draining the battery intermittently when it is not in use and I’m not sure how to find out what it is and fix it. Wondered if there might be an easy troubleshooting or fix I can do, or some way to put a switch in the battery terminal cable to switch off and on without screwing in each time. Thanks in advance for any insights!
