2005 RXP- Rope in Intake...

I put my 2005 RXP in for the season. On the way from the launch to my pier, the rope I used to launch came off of the foot rest area where I had laid it (and still attached to the bow eye) and went under the ski. Lo and behold, it went in the intake and wrapped itself around the driveshaft. Was going too fast and the ski died. I didn't realize the rope was around the shaft (or even missing), and attempted to restart it a few times. To no avail and I took a look around once it was on its lift and saw the rope from bow eye to intake. I was able to cut the rope in a couple of places and unravel it from the shaft. Only about 2 inches extended into the impeller area. After I got the rope out, I took the ski out and all seemed well. Unfortunately, after about 3 minutes of riding, the ski lurched and seemed to lose some power, but still made it back to the pier. I am wondering of the loss of power and lurching was from the old gas (with Stabil) from winter storage or if I did some damage with the rope.

What can and should I check?

Thanks for any help!

try adding some new gas to the old stuff? to me when you stop something from moving yet there is an engine hooked up trying to run, something has to give, to me that you where able to re-start it after that and run good untill what it did seems like something else, yet I am not an expert and there are guys on here that may be able to help you more then me.....how bad did it stumble and run after you had the problems?

The tank is pretty full, so can't add much gas too it. I ran it up to about 40mph gradually afterwards and then up to 60mph and then slowly back down to about 25-30mph and that's when it began to stumble a bit.
