Hi I new to this sight and I hope it can help me. I just bought 2 used 05 gtx and rxt, bith supercharged, I tried them out for the first time and I can only get a top speed of 45 mph on both. The rpm s are running around 7400. I had both units checked out by a dealer befor I purchased them and was told that they were in great shape, compression was great. One has 50 hours the other 56. I will try to put in new plugs tomorrow. Any other suggestions would be great.

thanks

Were the superchargers ever overhauled/rebuilt? With a bad S/C you will definatly have low topend speed. Especially if your RPM's are correct which on that year 7400 seems good.

Very common on the supercharged Seadoos to have a problem on the supercharger. Almost always the symptoms appear as a loss of top end speed, but in some extreme cases the engine blows.

You need to take the intake off of the supercharger and see if you can spin the impellers by hand. If they spin freely, it's time for a rebuild.

Supercharger Shaft/Clutch Kit, '08 Spec Rebuild Kit

At any rate, BRP recommends that the supercharges get rebuild every 100 hours. It's not terribly difficult to do if you are mechanically inclined and will keep your supercharger from blowing up your engine.

Hope this helps!!

Hey thanks for all the help. I changed the plugs in the rxt and it ran like a dream..... so good that after a great day of riding I didn't feel like and I didn't have a second set to put in the gsx. I'm in lac du bonnet manitoba so I was lucky to find 3 for the correct plugs. tomorrow I will try to change the plugs from one machine to the other. I will keep you posted

thanks again

Hello, i also have an 05 sea doo rxt, and i am having the exact same problem, it worked fine last year, but after getting it winterized then put it in the water for the first time this year, it didnt sound the same and its max speed was 45. My first thought was the super charger, but im looking at paying $700, but if changing the plugs worked for you then i think im going to try that, i would just like to ask what plugs it was that you changed exacly, i would appreciate the help, thank you.

just for the info-- 07' rxt 51mph top-- 6200rpm top I removed the sc and washer is missing and sc drive gear spins but you can hold turbine with your hand. my deduction no sc boost = less hp = less rpm = less speed ! I think if you had the rpm's [my rxt 7700-7800] and no speed you would maybe have a cavitation problem.
