I took the boat last week, was running great. Then I took it back to the river yesterday. Idle greats, get out of the water no problems (jet pump is good, checked) but I only get like 40mph when normally getting +/- 52mph. At full throttle, the engine won't get past 6200 RPM (was hitting 7200 before) and it kind of 'bogs down' every half second then back like if it was hitting rev limiter, but slower.

I tried putting new sparks plugs in, checked the jet pump, removed the RAVE valve covers to check if they were stuck, nothing helped. The boat still runs great if you don't wanna go past 40mph...

Any idea? Thanks!

PLease!!!!!! ;)

OK.

First... since this isn't the boat section... I think people are overlooking the post. (I know I was) I generally don't answer a miscategorized post.

So... it's surging... and you say "It's running great." So, what one is it?

Surging in the 2-stroke is a VERY SERIOUS issue. Since fuel is the life blood of the engine... when you get power surging, then you are going lean.

Since you are a Di... we need:

1) Compression
2) Fuel pressure
3) Air pressure

Get those numbers and we will go from there.
