Just purchased a 2004 Sea Doo RXP Supercharged. Right now the Supercharger has already been upgraded to the Metal Washers, new spark plugs, and i am in the process of getting fuel injectors cleaned. I am running the ski in calm waters and hitting 8100 RPM and the speed is only topping out at 50 MPH. Everything i am reading is this ski should be closer to the 70 MPH range. I am running premium gas in the motor as well. Any things i should be looking at first? Motor Starts up and idles fine but the RPMs seem high at idle as well around 2200-2400. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like wear ring most likely. Check the clearance to the impeller and also check the impeller for damage.

When you say hesitation, I think you're referring to cavitation. Definitely need a new wear ring, high idle could be idle bypass valve or mpem.

You can remove the bypass valve on the throttle body and look for salt deposits
Polish up the tip of solenoid plunger with scotch bright
You’ll actually need to reset it on buds or Candoo but you may be lucky and it isles lower
Could be a air leak on intake assy to manifold or intercooler clamp area

Looked at the bypass valve looked clean and didn’t see any salt build up. All hoses also looked good. Got my injectors back from shot. They were about 10 percent bad in each

Does the idle hunt back and forth or is it constantly high?

Are there any other issues with the electronics? like fuel gauge not working, or other accessories?

Seen quite a few bad mpems on 02-05 4tecs that cause high idle

It just idles high at start up and stays 2100-2400. All the other gauges are working fine.

If you're sure your ibv is in good condition and moving in and out and that you don't have any intake air leaks, then I think it's mpem. I usually have one to swap out so it's only a 2 minute test to plug in another one.

I just started up with new injectors in and on trailer it’s idle is 2100-2200 with no load. I’ll have to find another MPEM to test it against.

So i have a spare MPEM. I have the key that goes along with it. All i need to do is swap out the board plug everything back in and use the new key correct? I don't need any other programming done on this do i? Never had to change out an MPEM

Same key. The key is programmed to the ECU, not the mpem. Just unplug and plug it in and let it sit there, takes 2 minutes.

Awesome, so I got it started with new MPEM it doesn’t show code 1607 anymore but still shows code 1517. I was running 67 mph at 7100 Rpms. I do have an aftermarket impeller 13/19 on there not sure what else to check.
the dern 1517 code is stupid compass and has disabled the vrs.

I thought we were fixing the idle..lol

you mean 67mph at 8100 rpms, right. that is normal. you'll need BUDS or similar to fix the vts and compass setting, simple fix
