2004 gti le rfi wont go over 3300rpm.

Wife flipped my ski. She claims that it ran for a short time while she was trying to flip it over, despite the key plug being off. Anyway, the ski filled a fair amount with water. She tried to start it enough that she killed the battery. I towed it in (very slowly). I charged the battery. I pulled the plugs and sprayed bombardier lube in. I followed the manual and held the throttle wide open for 2 seconds. I then put the key on and pushed the start button. It seemed to be turning over. No water came out of the cylinders. I put the plugs back in and it started somewhat easily.

I took it out and it started ok. It idled ok but doesnt go over 3300 rpm. It seems to run smoothly.

Any thoughts?

make sure that none of the electrical connections have moisture pull the e box cover off and inspect as well as spark plug boots and all. use compressed air to dry it all put and apply dielectric grease. also ck all fuses. that's a good start.

I pulled off all connections and reseated them. I will check fuses tomorrow. Thx for quick feedback.

Ski is ready for pick up. Service man told me that no water in cylinders, engine compression was 150psi, just a little moisture in the air intake. He said that he had to reset the 'roll switch', which activates when the machine is flipped. He said that is what must have been limiting the rpms. I have never heard of this. Any comments??

$130 to put camera in cylinders, compression check, clean air box, and 'reset rollover switch'.

i never heard of a roll over switch as well! so every time you flip the ski you need to take it to the stealer to reset the roll over switch??? sounds bogus to me. no offense meant. just never heard of such thing.

Its called a TOPS SWITCH. It does exist. (page 451)

tops switch ... is a mercury interrupter switch for rollover issues ...
only on 4 tech engines ... is this ski an rfi -- or a 4 tech ??? says rfi on thread title, but we have seen it all on seadooforums ... to my knowledge , an rfi is not equipped -- as you can see in a manual, but, most manuals go on and on, through the rfi section, to the di section, to the 4 tech section...

so even on a 4 tech it doesn't need to be reset. if it were me id go back to that mechanic and call him on it. not to start trouble or anything but it sucks paying for a service that don't exist.

Definitely an rfi as I put in the title.

I am looking for opinions, so nobody is out of line.

I was happy that they were well under their estimate, but now I am not sure.

I just reread the invoice. It states "sometimes after a roll over the gas cap needs to be cracked to reset the roll over valve. Cracked the gas cap and checked the roll over valve and everything was good.".
