Hello ALL,
I have recently bought a 2003 seadoo sportster LE. The actual problem is that It tops out at 35 MPH at about 6.5 on the tach when I know it is rated for 55mph.
Here are some things I have noticed after running it a few times out on the lake.
1) If I slam the throttle all the way down after the engine has only been running for a minute or so, it smokes like crazy out the back, to the point where I need to bring the throttle back and then slowly apply it to get it up to 35 mph.
2) There is serious quantities of gas/oil in the water around the boat, coming out from the bilge, in the engine area, and leaking out the plugs out the back when I take it out on the trailer each time. There is also some foamy, strange coloured stuff in the engine well also...
3) It burns fuel and oil at what seems like at an unusual rate, half a tank of oil and all 80 litres of gas for about 5-6 hours of running. I know these things a hogs on gas, but this seemed pretty crazy, (especially the oil) but maybe this is normal?
4) when opening up the throttle, it skips/chugs for maybe 3 seconds as it increases RPMS and then reaches a nice consistent sound.
From reading other posts it sounds like it could be: Throttle cable issue, impeller/seal needs replacing, RAVE needs changing or adjusting...
But before I attempt to do the work myself or take it to the shop does anyone else have any input at all of things to check out?
Thanks again guys,
Pete
