The alignment fixture is a tool that bolts onto the transom with an alignment shaft that slides through into the engine crankshaft PTO spline once the engine is properly positioned. Using the tool to check alignment, adjust the engine position using shims until the shaft aligns. Otherwise the drive shaft coupling splines will wear quickly or vibrate, may cause rapid wear to the jet pump.
