I just got my 2002 Seadoo Gtx rfi 100% back together new engine new battery everything plugged in fires right up revs fine out of the water have not taken it out yet but the Maint light/warning flashes when running? What does it exactly mean I have seen conflicting results some say its a maintenance reminder some say its like a check engine light? Which is it and what causes it and how do i get rid of it?

Thanks.

Also how do I check if the ski is charging i see a bad rectifier is common? I rev the ski and it still stays around 12.15 volts all fuses good.

Check your oil level switch or the oil level itself. The light will flash and the beeper will be about once per minute. Info gauge might tell you something.

As for battery charging just check the voltage at the battery when reving the engine to 5,000 rpm. should be over 13 volts.

Thanks Will be working on it tomorrow will test some things I just got a new rectifier to. say nothing on dash other then mait and flashes fuel/oil doesn't say low and no beeping.

Check your temp sensor that will make the light flash. Put the ski in the water ride it with the seat off, idling monitor the temp with your hand... feel everything. Nothing should be hot just warm. You'll have a little uneven heating if you are breaking in a new engine. I bought a $30 infared thermometer. Great to have. Don't worry too much about the light if the engine is running well and the temp is normal is the point I'm making. Good Luck

I have yet to have it in the water runs cool on the hose as of now I Just put the motor in it gives this warning right off the bat hot or cold second it starts. I will check my temp sensor maybe its bad I have had jet skis before just not a sea doo I don't know much about them.

I wouldn't run the ski very long on the hose. Big problem is the water seal as it will heat up. Maybe a minute at the most on the hose. In the water is more practical. Running on the hose proves very little. Good Luck !

Installed rectifier it does charge now 13 ish volts so thats fixed still has the light on tho I also swapped coolant sensor from another ski Same one light still on what are other known common sensors to fail? fuel and oil level sensors appear to work aswell nothing shows low.

Sold it got a Kawasaki 15f il never buy a older seadoo again not worth the bs with em messed with this thing for way to long.

I don't think I like riding them as much as I like restoring them. Too me, restoring is not working on skis like repairing them. It is more an art form. Love making them work like they should. Good Luck !!!
