Ok here we go
I have a 2002 Seadoo GTX 4Tec i picked up last weekend that is dead. Dead as in hook up a battery and nothing. No gauges no beeps no fuel pump nothing. Now the research begins. After digging through the shop manual and wiring diagrams i have finally gave in and am seeking expert advice.
When i bought it i was told it was jump started off a truck so i assumed ok MPEM is fried and that's why its completely dead. So i get a new MPEM off Ebay from an 03 GTX (SC but dont think that matters) Hook it all up and plug in the lanyard that came with the new MPEM and the fuel pump comes. So im thinking sweet im getting some where. Still no gauges and i hit the start button and nothing. The fuel pump came on/off in two seconds intervals about four times. Then i unplugged the lanyard. The fuel pump has never come back on again.
Here is where im at now. I have two MPEMs with two different lanyards. What i really need to know is if the code for the key is stored in the MPEM or the ECU. From my research i believe the code is stored in the ECU but the MPEM is what checks it. So i still unsure which key i need to be using and if i will need to be hook ed to BUDS for a reprogram.
On a side note i have already replaced the DESS post with a working on as that when the ski was jump started it fried the old one.
Im still stuck not matter which key i plug in and which MPEM i use the only think i get is the TOPS valve click and this happens when the reed switch is closed on the DESS. Still no gauges no fuel pump no crank. Starter is good i bypassed the relay to check it. I have 12v going into the MPEM and i have 12volts at the Fuel pump and at the Gauges but i believe the ECU has to ground these circuits.
The buzzer does not buzz it very faintly clicks. From listing it seems some times i get two clicks other times sounds like three clicks.
What i would really like to is what exactly is suppose to happen as the lanyard is plugged in . As in
Reed Switch on Dess Closes MPEM or ECU checks for lanyard code.
TOPS Valve Clicks
Fuel Pump come on
Gauges light up
finally start up when stat button is pressed
I believe this is how this is suppose to work and i do understand the MPEM and ECU work together to get all this done.
I have cleaned all grounds and most electrical connectors.
I really think the lanyard is still the issue being it the code in the MPEM or ECU not all matching
Or im thinking maybe my ECU is fried from the jump start but i don't know which wires to check to see if it is getting power and sending out correct ground signals.
So i need the Electrical expert to help me and maybe we can get this solved
Thanks Guys
