I have a 2002 Sea-Doo GTX DI that I’ve only owned for about a month. According to the guy I bought it from and the paperwork provided it has had a new motor put in it from Sea-Doo with only about 10 hours on it now. The ski ran great the first several times I took it out but I started noticing a misfire or a skip a week or two ago. It was hardly noticeable unless trying to hold a speed between 35-40 MPH.

Originally I attributed this to the spark plugs being fouled because the guy I bought it from stated that he had it running a little rich on oil being that it was a brand new motor. He advised me that it may start fouling plugs because of this and if that happened i should adjust it.

The last time I had the ski out, I ran it on and off for several hours with the skip not being any worse or better than before. Towards the end of the day the ski shut off on me while headed back to the dock. I was only able to get the ski to start back up if I took the key off and put it back on (I’m assuming to allow the fuel injector to supply some fuel).

Although it would start every time I did this, it would almost immediately die again (within a couple seconds) and would not allow me to accelerate at all without immediately shutting down.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

No maintenance light means it is probably fuel related. With that being said, I would pull the fuel pump clean it and replace the two small filters on the pump. Next I would replace the external fuel canister filter on the supply line.
If that doesn’t take care of the problem, I would remove the fuel injectors, as well as the air injectors and send them out to be professionally cleaned.
