I have owned my 2002 GTI since October 2008. Never had any problems until recently jump starting a friends craft on the water. Lifted my seat off and saw water shooting out a hole in the tuned pipe from the following pictures. Jet Ski has low hours and never been in salt water. I was curious if this was a common problem anyone has seen?

I sanded down the spot and I am hoping JB weld does the trick. Better than spending $400 plus to replace this piece, figured it was worth a shot. Guess ill find out here in the next couple of days.

Same thing happend to me.

Yes I have a GTI 2003 and your pictures are identical to the leak I have in mine.

Did JB weld hold? I tried it and am waiting for it to dry. I might have to take out the tuned pipe and get it welded.

Please let me know what you did.

Roger

Dis assemble is very easy, I had the same problem and took my pipe off and took it to a weld shop that specializes in cast alumunin. $40. took only a day and was back up and running. Sometimes a little tough getting the pipe of, but just smack it gently with a rubber mallet and it should pop right off. Also when I reassemble I left the gasket on the motor side andjust applied some hi-temp form a gasket on the pipe. Wooks great no leaks and I don'thave to worry bout it leaking again.

I sanded it down with sand paper. and may have used my grinder with a sanding pad.

JB weld has held great
