2001 RX DI Maint light came on now it only runs at reduced power

We have owned this RX since new always dealer serviced. Has been running fine in recent weeks. Started it today to take it out and the maintain light came on with the beep. Now it will not run at full power...also have a 12V low message showing occasionally. Checked battery and it appears to be fine starts right up every time. I replaced the plugs today but still has the same problem. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Clean the battery connections, and make sure they are tight.

Then... hook a meter to the battery, and start the ski. Bring the engine up to 5000 RPM... and you should be seeing 13.5 to 14.5 volts. If it's high, or low... you will need a new regulator.

Thanks Dr Honda I will test the voltage today and see what it says. If it is the regulator where s it located and how hard is it to replace?

On yours... I think it's part of the MPEM... but there are aftermarket replacements. It's not hard... but there will be a little wiring involved.
