Did some searches and not seeing this issue..

When I plug in the dess key all I get is beeps. Very short beeps with very short pauses, like b.b.b.b.b.b.b
It will stop if I press the start/stop button, but as soon as I let off if goes back to beeps.

Tried counting them and gave up after 10 because in manual couldnt find any trouble code more than 8 beeps.

I did try the start/stop switch 5 times, gauges come on it beeps twice plug dess key in goes back to beeps

I wiggled key around, cleaned post and key, and get very little difference. Just beeps. I left the dess plugged in for at least 20 seconds and beeps never stopped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would say suddenly, but the last time before today that the dess was used was in January or February, put a fresh battery in and get this

This is a new one for me???
Maybe go through and check electrical connections most especially grounds.
Will it start?

It will not start, won't turn over. Just beeps. I will check all electrical connections. Running the 5 press self test is what's got me. It does the 2 beep ok, and then just beeps.

Have you tried bypassing the solenoid? Then if it doesn't work (engine should turn), you will have to try to turn the engine by hand (plenty of instructions on this forum). Usually you remove a plastic guard behind the engine, remove the plugs and try to turn it by hand. You can also try to turn the engine with the spark plugs removed in case it is full of water (water would spit out of the plug holes and that would be bad).

If engine doesn't turn, then engine is seized or jet pump is stuck. Check the jet pump first. If engine turns, then take a compression test.

Start with that.

Wait, it does the normal 2 beeps then starts beeping?
Sounds like a dress post to me. Reads the lanyard then looses signal.

After the 2 beeps and if you do not crank the engine, it will sound 4 beeps and repeat them to let you know that you left the key in.

If you get the first two beeps it means that your ski recognized the key because otherwise it would make one long beep from my experience.

When a DESS post fails you can have all of the above or not a sound when you play with the key repeatedly.

Thanks for the responses.

Had to do self test to get 2 beeps, then after the 2 beeps plugged in dess, then it go back to non stop beeps.
It was driving me crazy, started chasing wires. Everything was checking out, then decided to hook battery back up.....

Didn't take long to figure out the problem after that, wasn't getting consistent voltage, took the new battery out, put the old battery back in, beeped like it's supposed to, fired right up.

Dead short in brand new battery was the issue, first time it has happened to me from that store, never had a battery cause non stop beeping either
