2001 LRV 951 No Go above 10mph

Out yesterday, machine ran great. all of a sudden, no thrust. Engine died. Restarted ok. Engine idles and runs good. 6800 RPM's and will not go over 10MPH. Engine temp was low and actually dropped while driving at 10 mph. I checked underneath while int the water for seaweed in the inlet, could not feel any. Got boat home, seaweed was hanging from under inlet, so I pulled it off. Very loose, not seemed to be sucked in. i have not been able to get the boat back into the water to verify if this was the problem. Please give me your opinion. Could seaweed have been sucked in so far that it is not visible? What should I do? Could it be something else?

Look in there with a flashlight. You may want to pull the jetpump housing off though to look inside from the back.. Takes like 15 minutes to do. Or pull the intake grate off itself. Sometimes that stuff can get sucked in pretty far.

Easier to pull impeller housing or grate?

i personally never pulled my grate. My father did and said it was no big deal. I took off my pump housing on my GTX limited to change the oil in about 15 minutes.
