I had a problem with the cps and trigger wheel. Mechanic took motor out of machine to fix trigger wheel. Prior to this whenever I put the key on, the fuel pressure would build to 60psi and stay there for a long time before eventually losing some pressure. Had the ski out the other day and after 1/2 hour of awesome riding the ski started running bad and Maint light came on. I read the machine with Candoo and at first no faults. I started it back up and let it run for 10 secs and read it again. It then showed a tps under lower limit fault so I reset the tps and put new plugs in it. The ski starts and sounds ok but I noticed the fuel pressure gauge not holding any pressure. If I stick the key on it, it pumps up to 60 and then drops to 0 within 5-10 secs. Could the fact that the mechanic probably didn't replace the fuel injector O-rings be the problem? Is the pressure supposed to drop that fast? When I pulled the plugs they were pretty dark which was weird because the oil injector line up marks need to be adjusted to the richer side. One more question, will fouling a plug cause the Maint. light to come on?

you have to hook up a gauge with a tee in it and hose on each side of the tee, so when you start it up and shut it off, then take a crimp off tool and put on 1 side of the t, and if pressure drops, it would be on thet side, if not, start it , build pressure, put crimp off tool on other side of t, will either be the fuel pump assembly, or the injectors, hard to explain it, read it a few times and will be clear ...

Basically what griz is saying, is either your fuel pump is leaking back into the tank, or your pressure regulator is allowing the fuel to go back in on the return line. If it was leaking though the injectors, that would be the worlds fastest leaking fuel injectors. ;) So thats not too likely.

I might have to digress. I looked at a diagram & I don't see a fuel return. Are these pressure regulated at the pump?

NAPA or possibly O'Reiley's may have those fittings? I've had NAPA make me up replacement FI fuel lines several times, and O'Reiieys has repaired hydraulic lines for me as well.

These guys try to stock that kind of stuff.

if they are the same as mine, they are std 5/16" fittings. Not sure on the RFI tho. I would think its the same?

any one that carries dorman products should be able to get them for you
dorman part no's 800-080 and 800-154
here's my set up
and they are 5/16"

I did put a tee in and I leave the jegs pressure gauge there perminately. Should I not have it in when I ride the ski? I will try the crimp trick but it just seems weird that before the motor was pulled it held pressure. Although the ski wasn't really running good when the pressure was holding at 60. I recently pulled the fuel pump and replaced both filters and when I did the 2 washers fell out of the bottom of the fuel pump assembly and I guessed at the metal washer (foot valve) going on the bottom. This may be the problem. Thanks for your input.
