Hi guys picked up a 2001 GTS with trailer cheap, hope was a good move. It has sat for a couple of years steering is locked up. Drained gas fresh fuel put in new battery new seadoo oil, it cranks but no spark need some help or in site with this project thanks

What have you checked? It's a simple system. Coil in the engine... and a coil. The MPEM could be bad... but generally, if it's reading the lanyard, and cranking over... then it's OK.

Check machine out a bit more yesterday have 10-15 psi in mag cyl and 150 in pro cyl, so not sure if need just upper rebuild or entire engine, before I replace anything I'd like to get spark out of it.

Looks like the MPEM has been replaced it has a sea doo key and generic key both work, check fuese there all good I will do more testing today in rear electrical box, then decide which way to go with the engine thanks for your reply .

I had one awhile back, same problem... turned over but no spark, ended up being the stator. Easy trouble shooting technique at the connector in the front of the engine.
see manual.

So today checked all electrical connections with the key plugged in disconnected stator connector plugged it back in stater bumped and had spark now?? Ghost in the machine. Got it to run for 2 sec on starter fluid. Took head off there's a cracked end on mag cyl both Pistons reach T D C. Think I could get away with a top end rebuild?? Thank guys

Hi all need an engine 717, for this ski. Used?? Or new?? Where from or rebuild my self. Thanks

Hi this this 2001 GTS has three listings for models (5551),(5520),and (5521) how can I tell which one I have. Thanks

When they have multiple listings like that... it's generally either a color change... or a different region code. (like USA, Canada, export) Don't know why they did that, since they are generally the same.

Sorry no one has been answering your questions... but no... don't try to just to the top. It's an old engine, and the lower is warn out too. If you have a machine shop available to you... then sure... you can try to do the rebuild yourself. But, it's cheaper to just buy a SBT engine... and you will have a warranty when you are done.
