so my wife did what u dont do(yes,i let her) she borrowed her bosses seadoo.we used it,we killed it,oil in the hull,80psi in mag cylinder, plug gap closed,150 in the pto side,i put my bore scope down the hole, cylinder walls look good, top of the pistons dont look good.i found on ebay some wsm pistons for 72 buks, wiseco are double that,,anybody used the wsm pistons? after i measure the bore, ill decide wether to go stock or bigger,,im fairly new,and fairly dumb, especially to use a borrowed ski,,so pls be nice, lol

Ok, I just did a 2003 Gti 720. If you are comfortable doing the work yourself pull the head and cylinders ans see if the rotary valve and crank are ok too. If it is just the top end send it to fullbore online. He will bore or sleeve the cylinders and include a complete topend kit for $450. You need to find the cause of the failure first, could be a carb so make sure you rebuild it. If you want the easy way out with a warranty buy a SBT engine.

thanx n ya ill do it myself,,it has quite a bit of oil in the hull, where there wasnt prior to the weekend,so i thinki it lost an oil line,,ill check everything n then give fullbore a call,,i expect the worst, especially cuz its not my ski,,go figure,,
but on a good note the 98 xpl ran perfect(finally) for 6 tanks,,only thing that broke was the vts adjustable shaft! minnetonka got me handled on that

Make sure you get a copy of the service manual and you will be fine. The 720 is a simple engine. If you need a rotary valve I found out do not buy a WSM they are not the same as stock and can't always get the timing correct. Sitck with stock or I think the SBT are ok.

k, tore into it tonight, found the airbox partially not on all the way,the oil in the bottom of the hull is from the rv feed line seeping just a little, under the manifld, pulled the head off,pto piston n combustion chamber good, mag piston pitted, dome has a few brg pieces embedded in it,and the piston moves up n down 1/8 inch without moving the crank,,so i cussed n yelled n hollared n that didnt fix it,,so its a rebuild for sure, measured the cylinders, they look good,,not even a score mark on them,,def re-usable,with a bore job,,,looks like the cause,,drum roll,u guessed it grey fuel lines!!!took the end of the carb off n the filter was near plugged,,thinkin way lean for a while,,sure death,, any body got a smokin deal on a used 717 engine?if u read above ule see that this is not my ski n we borrowed it,,the owner said,,and i quote"haha it was already wore out,now u have to fix it",,yep i cussed some more,,didnt help again
